Cab driver fatally shot in West Philly

Police are investigating the overnight slaying of a cab driver in West Philadelphia.

The slaying happened at about 12:45 a.m., near Cobbs Creek Parkway and Walnut Street, police said.

The male cab driver was apparently flagged down by someone, who then tried to rob him and started shooting.

Another cab driver saw the cabbie try to drive away and crash into a wall. That driver called 911 to report the accident, Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detectives told reporters. When officers arrived, they found that the driver had suffered gunshot wounds.

The slain cab driver's name has not been released.

No arrests have been made.
