Race Street Meeting House awarded a grant
The National Park Service has awarded to Friends Center Corp. in Philadelphia a grant of $325,181 to be used to help preserve its Race Street Meeting House.
The Race Street Meeting House, which now opens at 1515 Cherry St. in Center City, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1993 and is recognized as being at the forefront of women's suffrage, the abolition of slavery and the civil-rights movement.
Federal funds are awarded through the 2007 Federal Save America's Treasures Grant program.
