'Oprah' show on Pa. puppy mills to air again today
HARRISBURG - Oprah is expected to go to bat for Pennsylvania's dogs today.
In a special rebroadcast of an episode of
The Oprah Winfrey Show
that aired last month, the nation's leading talk-show host will urge Pennsylvania viewers to contact their lawmakers in support of recently introduced animal-welfare legislation.
Winfrey also is planning to read excerpts from a letter sent by Gov. Rendell asking her to help in his effort to tighten restrictions on commercial breeding kennels and toughen state anti-cruelty laws.
The original episode highlighting conditions in puppy mills in Lancaster and Berks Counties generated one of the biggest e-mail responses in the show's history.
