wants to engage public

NORRISTOWN The Montgomery County Planning Commission released its 2013 annual report, the county announced Monday.

Among the events cited in the report were the groundbreaking for the $60 million Lafayette Street Extension Project and the launch of a planning process for drafting a new county comprehensive plan called Montco 2040: A Shared Vision. The last plan covered from 2005 through 2013.

Other highlights included new development proposals rising from 122 in 2012 to 182 last year, an online maps initiative, and more assistance from the commission to school districts, the report said.

Running through all of the accomplishments was "a focus on reaching and really engaging our public," said County Commissioner Leslie S. Richards.

In May 2013, Jody Holton became the planning commission's new executive director. - Carolyn Davis
