A hearing on funding for pre-kindergarten programs in Pennsylvania will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Curtis Hall, 1250 W. Church Rd., Wyncote.

According to advocates, funding levels for pre-k in Pennsylvania are sufficient to help only one in six children gain access to high-quality programs viewed as essential to children's success. Gov. Wolf has proposed increasing funding for early childhood education by $120 million in his 2015-16 budget.

Tuesday's hearing is sponsored by the state House Democratic Policy Committee.

Scheduled speakers include Tracy Campanini, director of the state's Bureau of Early Learning Services; Maddy Malis, president and CEO of Federation Early Learning Services and co-chair of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Early Childhood Coalition; Mary Jo Grieve of the Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children, and Beth DelConte, pediatric advisor for Early Childhood Education Linkage Systems. - Kathy Boccella
