A shopkeeper alerts the FBI about a "disturbing" video he was asked to copy onto a DVD. The video shows 10 young men shooting assault weapons at a firing range earlier that month. The group calls for jihad (a holy war) and shouts "Allahu Akbar" (God is great).
An FBI informant infiltrates the group by developing a relationship with Mohamad Shnewer.
Shnewer tells the informant to look at certain DVD files on his laptop. One contains what appears to be the last will and testament of at least two of the hijackers in the Sept. 11 attacks; another contains images of Osama bin Laden.
A second informant is invited to the home of suspect Eljvir Duka.
Aug. 1, 2 and 5
Shnewer tells the first informant that he, Serdar Tatar, Dritan Duka, Eljvir Duka, Shain Duka and others are planning to attack a U.S. military base, and Shnewer specifically names Fort Dix, saying they could kill at least 100 soldiers by using rocket-propelled grenades.
Shnewer and the informant travel to Fort Dix to conduct surveillance. Shnewer says the plan is to "hit four, five, six Humvees and light the whole place [up] and retreat completely without any losses."
Tatar tells the informant he will acquire a map of Fort Dix and describes an area of the post they can attack and cause a power outage, making it easier to mount the attack on military personnel.
The informant gives the map to law enforcement officers, who make copies.
FBI agents interview Tatar, who denies being part of the plot, providing the map or knowing any of the parties involved.
Shnewer tells the informant the group missed a chance to attack military personnel at the Army-Navy football game in Phila. the previous weekend.

Law enforcement officers observe group members at Dritan Duka's residence in Cherry Hill, at times carrying dark-colored, rifle-style bags. In taped conversations, members are heard testing the action on the weapons.
The informant travels with the group to a house the Dukas rent in Gouldsboro, Pa. Officials observe members firing weapons at a firearms range in the Poconos. The next day, an undercover FBI agent who had seen the group at the range encounters one of them, who asks the agent where he can buy AK-47 and M-16 firearms.
Dritan Duka discusses with an informant training for an attack by playing paintball in the woods near Duka's house in Cherry Hill.
Shain Duka tells the informant that Tatar wanted to join the U.S. Army so he could kill U.S. soldiers "from the inside." Duka says the group decided to wage jihad because "as far as people we have enough, seven people. And we are all crazy. That's what is needed."
After members of the group travel back to Cherry Hill, Shnewer discusses the possibility of attacking the Navy base in Philadelphia during the Army-Navy football game.
March 28-April 27
In conversations recorded by informants, group members discuss the types of weapons they need - AK-47s, M-16s, M-60s and 9mms among them - how much they would cost and when they would be delivered.
Federal officials arrest six in alleged plot to attack Fort Dix.
