LANCASTER, Pa.

- Authorities say relatives of a 2-month-old girl shot and killed in a Lancaster County home on Christmas Eve are cooperating with investigators.

Officials said the infant was shot about 2 p.m. Tuesday in a unit in the Countryside Apartment complex in East Lampeter Township.

District Attorney Craig Stedman told the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era that officials are "obviously . . . investigating exactly how it took place."

He said details could be released after an autopsy scheduled today.

The baby, whose name hasn't been released, was resuscitated on the way to Lancaster General Hospital, but was later declared dead.

Coroner Stephen Diamantoni said it was hard to put into words "just how tragic it is that a 2-month-old baby was shot dead on Christmas Eve."
