Last chance for WWII factory

Time is running short for a group trying to save a portion of the Ypsilanti, Mich., factory where Rosie the Riveter worked.

The Save the Willow Run Bomber Plant campaign needs to raise $1 million by Thursday. It has brought in $7 million of the $8 million needed to buy a slice of the factory where Rose Will Monroe and her colleagues built one B-24 bomber an hour during World War II.

The group hopes to turn the site west of Detroit into a museum dedicated to aviation and the countless Rosies across the country. The plant is coming down in part to make way for a vehicle research center. The Save the Bomber campaign wants to preserve more than 150,000 square feet as a new home for the Yankee Air Museum. - AP
