Mass transit plans up for public discussion

Residents of Camden and Gloucester Counties will get a chance this month to examine plans for a light rail line from Camden to Glassboro and other mass-transit improvements. The Delaware River Port Authority will hold four open houses to display route maps and make staff and consultants available.

Residents of Camden and Gloucester Counties will get a chance this month to examine plans for a light rail line from Camden to Glassboro and other mass-transit improvements. The Delaware River Port Authority will hold four open houses to display route maps and make staff and consultants available.

The $2 billion plan calls for trains to run 18 miles alongside an existing Conrail freight line and to connect to PATCO and River Line trains at the Walter Rand Transportation Center in Camden.

The dates and locations of the open houses, all of which will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.:

Next Wednesday, Rutgers University-Camden, Main Lounge, Campus Center, 326 Penn St., Camden. Free parking at Lots 12, 13 and 14.

June 11, Woodbury Junior-Senior High School Cafeteria, 25 N. Broad St.

June 17, Camden County College, Civic Hall, 200 College Dr., Blackwood.

June 18, Rowan University, Chamberlain Student Center, 201 Mullica Hill Rd., Glassboro.
