Authorities are investigating a report that a cabdriver sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl Tuesday night.
The girl told police she called for a cab to take her from her grandmother's house in North Philadelphia to her parents' home in Juniata Park about 10 p.m., said Capt. John Darby of the Special Victims Unit. At some point en route, the girl said, the driver pulled over onto a dark street and assaulted her in the cab's backseat, Darby said. The driver then took her home.
The girl later reported her assault to her parents, who called police.
The cabdriver has been identified and interviewed, Darby said, but no charges have been filed. The District Attorney's Office is working with police on the investigation, he said. - Allison Steele
