Re-enactors portraying loyalists to the British crown and rebel New Jersey Volunteers will do mock battle in downtown Haddonfield on Saturday.

The event will mark the 235th anniversary of the British encampment in Haddonfield.

Starting at 10 a.m., the Continental Army re-enactors will occupy the Historical Society of Haddonfield building at 343 Kings Highway East. The British will be at the Indian King Tavern at 233 Kings Highway East. Re-enactors will cook over fires and guard their camps, and guests are welcome to meet and speak with them.

Around 1 p.m., the New Jersey Volunteers will march down Kings Highway and encounter a division of the British Army. The skirmish will take about 30 minutes.

From 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Kings Highway will be closed to parking from Haddon Avenue to Grove Street. The same area will be closed to traffic from about 12:50 to 1:40 p.m.

The conference room at Remington & Vernick Engineers, 236 Kings Highway East, will have toy soldiers depicting Revolutionary War armies on display.
