MANTUA A 38-year-old woman from Swedesboro has been charged with drunk driving and vehicular homicide after a crash Sunday in Mantua Township that left a man injured and his wife dead, authorities said Tuesday.
Toni Lee Coleman was headed west on Holly Avenue shortly after 7 p.m. when her Mercedes Benz went into the intersection of Lambs Road and rammed the passenger side of a Buick LeSabre driven by John R. Steponick, 76, of Tabernacle.
Katherine Steponick, 74, and her husband were taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. She was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m.
Coleman had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.18 percent, according to a report cited by a spokesman for the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office. The state limit to be considered driving under the influence is 0.08.
Coleman also was charged with reckless driving, passing through a stop sign, and related charges. She was being held on $100,000 bail, the prosecutor's office said.
