An aide at a South Jersey middle school is accused of sexually assaulting a former student.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday that 41-year-old Jennifer Pasquarello had been arrested for alleged sex acts with a male student that happened between November 2013 and May.

The Somerdale resident worked as a one-to-one aide at Glen Landing Middle School in Gloucester Township when the alleged incidents occurred. Prosecutors said she engaged in unspecified sexual acts with the 14-year-old student off school property.

Pasquarello, who was working most recently at Ann Mullen Middle School, was taken into custody Monday.

She has been terminated from her position, according to prosecutors and school officials.

In a message Tuesday to the Gloucester Township Public Schools community, Superintendent John Bilodeau said he was "deeply saddened and disappointed" to learn of the allegations.

"We will not tolerate any conduct that is inappropriate or unbecoming of a staff member," the superintendent's message said. "Upon notification of the off-site allegations, the District took immediate action and terminated the Aide arrested yesterday."

Prosecutors said school officials are cooperating in the investigation.

Pasquarello faces charges that include third-degree aggravated sexual assault, third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. She was being held at the Camden County Jail on $300,000 bail.
