Police seek driver in hit-and-run on cruiser

Philadelphia police were searching last night for a hit-and-run driver who sped off after being involved in an accident in which a police cruiser was rear-ended in Port Richmond.

Police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore said the crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. on the 2900 block of Aramingo Street. Police Capt. Lawrence Nodiff of the 23d District suffered minor injuries in the accident and was treated at the scene.

Vanore said the captain was stopped in traffic when he was rear-ended in a chain reaction by a car that was pushed into him when it was rear-ended by a red SUV. Vanore said the SUV sped off north on Aramingo and then west on Ann Street.
