Free Library advocates say they plan a lawsuit

Opponents of Mayor Nutter's plan to close 11 libraries to help balance the city's budget will hold a news conference today to announce plans to file a lawsuit that will seek to prevent the closures.

The plaintiffs, who have not yet been identified, will have some potent political support. Labor leaders, members of the Black Clergy of Philadelphia, and officers of the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia are scheduled to attend the news conference, according to Bob Bedard, a public-relations professional in Washington volunteering for the effort.

The press conference begins at 2:30 p.m., at the Logan Branch of the Free Library at 1333 Wagner Ave.
