S. Phila. woman severely burned in apartment fire

A 67-year-old woman was critically burned inside her South Philadelphia apartment early yesterday, authorities said.

The blaze was reported at 3:26 a.m. in the 900 block of Federal Street in a three-story apartment building. The fire was placed under control at 3:46 a.m.

The woman, whose name was not released, was rescued from the building and taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and later transferred to Temple University Hospital. The cause of the fire was under investigation. - Robert Moran
