2 Chesco men held in drive-by shooting in June

Downingtown police yesterday announced the arrests of two Chester County men suspected in an early-morning, drive-by shooting in June.

After an investigation that included participation by Chester County detectives, Downingtown police charged Erick DeAngelis, 19, of West Bradford Township, and Jesse Smith, 19, of Elverson, with eight counts of attempted criminal homicide and related offenses. Police said the two men shot at a group of people, injuring two, who were standing in the area of Hunt and Mary Streets at 2 a.m. on June 24.

DeAngelis and Smith were committed to Chester County Prison after failing to post $75,000 cash bail, police said. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday before Magisterial District Judge Rita Arnold.
