N.J. attorney general: Strengthen scalping laws

TRENTON - New Jersey's attorney general says the state must strengthen scalping laws if it wants to stop concert-ticket sellers from scooping up seats and reselling them for exorbitant profits.

In a briefing for lawmakers yesterday, Attorney General Anne Milgram offered no specifics. She said she expected to propose ideas for legislation stemming from her office's investigation into online ticket sales for New Jersey concerts.

Concert-ticket giant Ticketmaster reached an agreement with the state this year to change its online sales process after Bruce Springsteen fans complained about being redirected to a subsidiary that charged up to 50 times the face value of tickets. - AP
