Bail was set at $10 million yesterday for Jose Carrasquillo, the man charged in the rape of an 11-year-old Kensington girl and the groping assault of a 16-year-old girl.

Arraignment Court Judge Timothy P. O'Brien set bail at $5 million in each case against Carrasquillo, court records showed. Carrasquillo will have to post $1 million to be released. A preliminary hearing has been set for next Friday.

Carrasquillo, 26, of the 2400 block of North Orkney Street, is charged with 19 counts, including rape and aggravated assault.

The 11-year-old was assaulted on the morning of June 1 shortly after she dropped off her sister at a day-care center on the 3300 block of Kensington Avenue. She told police that a man who said he had a gun forced her to walk several blocks before he attacked her behind a house on the 2000 block of East Westmoreland Street. The 16-year-old girl was groped the same morning. - Inquirer staff
