WILKES-BARRE - A former NFL lineman has agreed to plead guilty to accepting a bribe a day after he resigned as a Luzerne County commissioner.

WILKES-BARRE - A former NFL lineman has agreed to plead guilty to accepting a bribe a day after he resigned as a Luzerne County commissioner.

Greg Skrepenak is accused of taking $5,000 from a developer for supporting a tax incentive program. He faces at least 33 months in prison under the terms of the plea agreement filed yesterday. The agreement indicates both sides agree the offense involved between $30,000 to $70,000. That figure will be considered at sentencing.

Skrepenak resigned Thursday as a Luzerne County commissioner. Defense attorney Peter Moses said Skrepenak accepts responsibility for his actions, but declined further comment.

Skrepenak is the 23d person charged in the Northeastern Pennsylvania corruption probe. He played six seasons in the NFL as an offensive lineman for the Raiders and Panthers. - AP
