Del. man killed in accident on interstate ramp

A Newark, Del., man was killed early yesterday after trying to pass a tractor-trailer on a ramp from the Blue Route onto southbound I-95 in Ridley Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.

About 2:15 a.m., after the 1995 Chevrolet GM4 clipped the front of the tractor-trailer, the pickup lost control, crossed a snow-covered embankment, and wound up spinning on its roof on I-95.

After being extricated, the driver, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt and no air bag deployed, police said. His name was being withheld pending notification of kin. The tractor-trailer driver, a 53-year-old Warminster man, was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt. - Peter Mucha
