WILMINGTON - Wilmington police say a traffic stop turned up nearly $9,000 in heroin packaged for sale.

Police say officers stopped a Dodge Magnum that was running stop signs near the 500 block of West Seventh Street early Friday. A 16-year-old boy bailed out of the car and police say he tossed five logs containing 675 bags of heroin before he was caught. Police say the teen had four grams of crack cocaine on him.

When two other occupants of the car were arrested, police say a bag containing 14 grams of crack was on the rear seat.

The driver, 29-year-old Aaron Cephas; the 16-year-old; and a 17-year-old boy were charged with trafficking heroin and cocaine and other drug offenses. A third passenger, a 29-year-old man, was released without charge. -AP
