Officer hospitalized after crash in West Philadelphia

A Philadelphia police officer crashed his cruiser into another car after swerving to avoid an oncoming vehicle early Sunday morning in West Philadelphia.

The officer, who was not identified, was traveling west on Baltimore Avenue at 4 a.m. when the accident occurred at 49th Street. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and listed in stable condition. The driver of the other car was also listed in stable condition at HUP. - Chris Mondics
