Police: Boy, 7, playing with gun shoots sister

An 8-year-old girl was shot in the arm by her 7-year-old brother, who was playing with their grandfather's gun Thursday morning in the city's West Oak Lane section, police said.

The incident occurred at 10:18 a.m. on the 1900 block of Georgian Road, police said. The girl was taken to Einstein Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.

The gun reportedly was in a safe, which the boy somehow opened, police said. Detectives were investigating the incident, which occurred in an upstairs bedroom. - Robert Moran
