Rally set to raise support

for raising minimum wage

DOYLESTOWN A rally to support raising the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour will take place in Doylestown next week, according to activists, the latest in a number of events statewide seeking to raise attention around the issue.

From noon to 1 p.m. next Thursday, supporters will gather in front of the Starbucks on Main Street, according to Raise the Wage PA, which has also hosted a rally in Philadelphia and a meeting in Harrisburg.

Steve Cickay, a Democrat running to replace State Sen. Chuck McIlhinney (R., Bucks), is among those scheduled to speak at the event.

Raising the minimum wage was discussed in the U.S. Senate Wednesday as a bill to raise it to $10.10 per hour was stalled by a Republican-led filibuster.

Sen. Robert P. Casey (D., Pa.), said he favored the wage raise, while his counterpart, Patrick Toomey (R., Pa.), said it would stunt job growth.
