Ronald L. Carter, 72, of Oxford, a mathematics teacher in Delaware County for 33 years, died Wednesday at Temple University Hospital of injuries from a fall at home.

Mr. Carter taught two generations of students at Darby Colwyn Junior High School, now Penn Wood Middle School, in Darby. He retired in 1990.

Mr. Carter graduated from Lock Haven State Teachers College. Since 1958, he had been married to Hilaine Wasson Carter. He and his wife grew up together in Lock Haven, Pa. They lived in Springfield, Delaware County, for 37 years until moving to Oxford 21/2 years ago.

He enjoyed yard work and remodeling, she said, and was always puttering. He was a perfectionist about his home-improvement projects, she said.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Carter is survived by daughters Debra Armor, Karen Alfonsi and Donna Collins, and six grandchildren.

The funeral and burial are private.
