L. Bruce Hilsee Jr. | Consultant, 89

L. Bruce Hilsee Jr., 80, formerly of Queen Village, a retired control-systems consultant, died Nov. 23 of complications from tongue cancer at Hospice of Arizona in Scottsdale.

As a consultant for Honeywell International, Mr. Hilsee advised industrial plants all over the world on massive computerized process-control-systems installations. In his 40-year career with Honeywell, he visited 134 countries, his son, Todd, said. He circled the globe numerous times, his son said, and was a member of the Circumnavigators Club. He retired in 1991.

Mr. Hilsee, a graduate of Abington High School, served Stateside in the Army in the 82d Airborne Division. After his discharge, he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland.

Since the early 1990s, he had lived in Carefree, Ariz., where he enjoyed furniture-making and genealogy. He was involved in community service and was a member of the Concerned Citizens of Carefree.

In addition to his son, Mr. Hilsee is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lea Eberhart; a daughter Lissa; stepchildren Dennis, Wayne and Dianna Eberhart; two grandchildren; and his former wife, Joanne Hilsee. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lauren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at Black Mountain Baptist Church in Cave Creek, Ariz. Burial will be at a later date in Ivy Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia.
