Nancy Maialetti Owen, 42, volunteer

Nancy Maialetti Owen, 42, of Souderton, a volunteer with a municipal revitalization program there, died of gastric cancer Monday, May 30, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Nancy Maialetti Owen, 42, of Souderton, a volunteer with a municipal revitalization program there, died of gastric cancer Monday, May 30, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Born in Bristol Township, Mrs. Owen graduated from the former Archbishop Wood High School for Girls in 1987 and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting at Temple University in 1991.

A sister, Donna Maialetti, said that from 1993 to 1996, Mrs. Owen was a personnel assistant in the human resources department of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit in Doylestown Township.

From 1999 to 2001, she was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, helping to build houses in Manahawkin, N.J.

And from 2002 to late 2007, when her cancer was diagnosed, Mrs. Owen was an office manager at Indian Ridge Provisions in Telford, a food distributor to hotels, restaurants, and country clubs.

Since 2010, she had volunteered with Souderton-Telford Main Streets, a joint effort of the two Montgomery County boroughs.

She retired in March as the promotion committee chair.

In addition to her sister Donna, Mrs. Owen is survived by her husband of 15 years, Christopher; sons Christopher and Michael; her parents, Richard and Sheila Maialetti; and a sister, Amy Lewis.

A viewing was set for 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford.

A second viewing was set for 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Monday, June 6, at the funeral home before a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Rd., Hatfield. Burial is to be private.
