Solomon Weinstein; sold houses

Solomon Weinstein, 96, of Ventnor, N.J., president of Charleston Realty in Cherry Hill from 1962 to 1983, died at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point, N.J., on Friday, May 3.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Weinstein - known as "Babe" - graduated first in his class of 1935 at Olney High School, daughter Linda Butler said Monday.

A 1939 graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Weinstein worked during World War II as an Army Air Corps auditor at a plant that made gliders for the Normandy invasion.

After completing his career at the real estate firm, his daughter said, Mr. Weinstein retired to Boynton Beach and Boca Raton, Fla., before returning to New Jersey four years ago.

Besides his daughter, Mr. Weinstein is survived by his wife of 71 years, Charlotte. Another daughter, Ronna Ridge, died in 2009.

Services took place Monday, May 6, at Platt Memorial Chapels in Cherry Hill.
