Letters | Real Study Center issues

IAM INTRIGUED by all the arguments over the Youth Study Center. I applaud Councilwoman Blackwell for getting what she can for her district with the move of the center. Now I hope the powers that be move Family Court to the same area to limit the need to transport the youths as much as possible.

IAM INTRIGUED by all the arguments over the Youth Study Center. I applaud Councilwoman Blackwell for getting what she can for her district with the move of the center. Now I hope the powers that be move Family Court to the same area to limit the need to transport the youths as much as possible.

The frustrating part about the recent arguments is that no one has talked about how we work to stop the need for a larger detention center, why there are so many young people in the delinquent stream, the over 70 percent recidivism rate of the young people who come through the Youth Study Center.

Until we look at the system that the children are going into, it doesn't matter what building they're housed in.
