THIS YEAR'S Thanksgiving and the weeks preceding it proved to be a taxing time for the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry of St. Cecilia's parish in Pennsauken, N.J.
With the number of families receiving our services doubling and even tripling right before the holiday, our foodstuffs were severely diminished. It was beginning to look like the Thanksgiving gift boxes we distribute might not be a reality this year.
After placing a phone call to Tastykake to see if we could obtain the dessert portion of the gift boxes we make up as a donation, I received an almost spontaneous response of giving without hesitation.
Not being originally from this area, it made me again recognize that the attitude of caring and concern for others that seems to be endemic here - and why shouldn't it manifest itself in the actions of a company that's operated in the area for so long and is a part of its history?
