Letters: Absence of good judgment from school district?

THE RECENT LETTER from the school district's administration is just one more instance of teacher-bashing. A vast majority of the teachers are dedicated and hard-working. They show up on time for all the school days, plus teacher-prep days and other required training days. They want to do their best jobs of teaching our children under the circumstances they face every day in the classroom.

They come into contact with as many children from a class of 30 to possibly a few hundred. With all those children who could be passing germs among themselves and the teachers, couldn't that explain a good deal of their absences?

Maybe the administration should be comparing the students' attendance to the teachers' attendance. I'm pretty sure that comparison for high school students would be quite interesting.
