With 13,000 physicians in town for last week's 66th annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology, maybe the doctors should have been asked why the Convention Center's trade unions are so brainless.

Yet again sending a message that Philadelphia isn't good for conventions, the carpenters' union picketed Thursday in protest of new rules that would allow exhibitors to do more work on their booths.

How can they be so shortsighted? As Mayor Nutter explained, "The more customer-friendly the Convention Center is, the more customers you will have, the more work hours you'll have, and the more work you'll have for the various trades."
