Big East/SEC Challenge expands

The Big East/SEC Challenge has been expanded for next season, with 12 games over 3 days, Dec. 1-3. With only 12 SEC teams, four Big East basketball teams will not participate, as will be the case each year. Villanova is among the non-participants next season, along with Marquette, Notre Dame and South Florida.

With only 12 SEC teams, four Big East basketball teams will not participate, as will be the case each year. Villanova is among the non-participants next season, along with Marquette, Notre Dame and South Florida.

This is the event's fifth year, although it was previously known as the SEC/Big East Invitational.

In previous years, there were four games at two neutral sites. Villanova played LSU in 2007.

The ESPN networks will televise all 12 games.
