It was the fifth straight victory for the Owls (7-4, 1-0 Big 5), whose dominating defense made the difference in the game.
Villanova (5-6, 1-2) scored just 11 points in the first half, and trailed by 34-11 after Temple scored the first 15 points of the second half. The Wildcats were scoreless for nearly 14 minutes and shot just 29.5 percent from the field (13-44) for the game. Laura Sweeney (15 points) and Devon Kane (10) led Villanova.

* At Saint Joseph's, junior Michelle Baker scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Hawks (7-3) to a double-overtime 70-61 win over Princeton (8-2).
With the score tied at 59 early in the second OT, the Hawks outscored Princeton 11-2 over the final 3:20 to clinch their fourth straight win.
Katie Kuester had 11 points for St. Joe's and Samira Van Grinsven 10. Niveen Rasheed led Princeton with 18 points.
Baker scored the game-tying points at the end of regulation (51-51) and at the end of the first overtime (55-55).
* Al La Salle, Ashley Gale's 25 points and Nadia Duncan's 15 led the Explorers (4-5) to a 78-58 rout of Rider.
