Marquette-Villanova preview: Wildcats resume play after lone loss

Last meeting:  The Golden Eagles rallied from a 17-point deficit and beat the top-ranked Wildcats 74-72, last Jan. 24 in Milwaukee.  Mikal Bridges scored 20 points, and Jalen Brunson had 19 for Villanova.

The latest: The third-ranked Wildcats (13-1, 1-1) will have had a week to get over their loss at Butler that dropped them from No. 1. Villanova is struggling on defense and has given up a combined 186 points in its first two Big East games.  The 'Cats will be playing on their home court for just the third time in 11 games. For Marquette (11-4, 2-1), Markus Howard made 11 three-pointers and matched a Big East record with 52 points in a win at Providence on Wednesday.  The Golden Eagles have won six of seven. Howard is 12th in the nation and leads the Big East in scoring at 22.6 ppg.  Andrew Rowsey adds 22.0 per game and makes Marquette the only team with two players in the Top 20 in scoring.
