You Talkin' to Me? Two votes for the Eagles tonight

Big game up in Jersey tonight. The Giants went through a rough patch there for a few weeks, but they rebounded nicely and beat the 'Boys. Now the NFC East is the same delightful mess it always is around this time of year.

What do the standings say about the division? Is the East as good and deep as some predicted it would be? And who do you like this evening?

I don't know if the division is great or greatly overrated, but it certainly is even.

I've always been a believer in the Desperate Team Theory, which you can read about in more depth on Page E1 today. By that theory, the Giants need tonight's game much more than the Eagles.

They might not be the better team, but the standings and schedule indicate they will be better tonight.

The NFC East is a free-for-all, as usual. It must be what it's like when you go out on the town, Gonz, and all the ladies are pawing at you, trying to win the prize.

I've been saying this for weeks, and I stand by it - I think the Eagles end up winning the division. It'll be a dogfight, as usual, but that will toughen them for the playoffs.

I have no idea what to make of the Giants, Eagles, or 'Boys. Each week it's a new story. I suppose their records would indicate that it's a competitive division full of tough teams, but I don't see any of them beating the Vikings or Saints if it comes to that.

Re: out on the town. It's why I don't go near retirement homes any longer, Ashley. You've never seen women with walkers move so fast.

I think the Eagles win tonight, 31-24. Sure, the Giants beat Dallas last week, but they did it essentially with smoke and mirrors.

I like the Birds tonight, too. Sean McDermott has to be salivating at the prospect of blitzing Hopalong Manning. Make mine 28-14 for the Eagles.

I don't think the Vikings are unbeatable, or even the Saints, for that matter. The Eagles have always been able to play up or down to competition, and I don't think that's any different now.

Still, I think tonight is Giants, say, 24-17.
