Michael Vick sat out practice with sore ribs Wednesday, though coach Andy Reid said he expects the quarterback to play Sunday against the Jets.

"He was a little tender from the game [but] not as bad as before," Reid said.

The Dolphins had four sacks on Vick on Sunday and hit him six times in the quarterback's first game back since suffering broken ribs Nov. 13.

"He's taken a lot of shots, he extends plays, that's always been his M.O.," said center Jason Kelce. "Sometimes you're going to take some beatings. Early on in the year we got him hit way too much, the first few games in there, and there's only so many hits a guy can take a year."

Graham done?

Defensive end Brandon Graham, last year's No. 1 draft pick, hinted that he might not play again this season.

Graham has played in only two games since last December after having microfracture surgery on his knee to help repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

"They want me for the long haul, so it's probably like, next year," said Graham, the No. 13 overall draft pick in 2010. "I'm disappointed, but at the same time, I'm not really worried about it because I understand what they're trying to do."

Graham has not been formally told he will sit out the rest of the way, he said, and players don't always know the team's plans.

Reid said Graham looked better last week than the week before.

"He's coming off, again, major surgery," Reid said before Graham spoke to reporters. "He's had some good snaps."

But Reid hasn't seen fit to play Graham the last four weeks. Graham was inactive in three of those games. He dressed but didn't play in Seattle.

Graham pointed to teammate Steve Smith, who was recently placed on injured reserve after aggravating his own knee injury. Smith is also coming back from microfracture surgery.

"I know it's them really trying to protect me," Graham said. "But it's like, man, I just want to play."

Graham knows he is being compared with Jason Pierre-Paul, the Giants defensive end drafted two slots later who has emerged as a force. Pierre-Paul has 121/2 sacks and blocked a field goal to preserve a Giants win Sunday. Graham rattled off the numbers himself.

"That boy been balling. I can't say nothing, other than control what I can, and that's get better and live up to my expectations," Graham said. "Next year is going to be that year."

Herremans, Jenkins sit

Tackle Todd Herremans (ankle), defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins (groin) and defensive end Darryl Tapp (ribs) all sat out practice Wednesday. Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (hamstring) was limited after he couldn't finish Sunday's game.

Tapp said he hopes to play, but that it will depend on how his broken rib heals.

"Coming home on the plane was terrible, but it [has] gotten way better very quickly," Tapp said.

Extra points

Defensive end Trent Cole and cornerback Joselio Hanson were each fined $15,000 for hits on Miami quarterback J.P. Losman. Cole's was for hitting too low and Hanson's for a blow to the helmet. Both said they planned to appeal.. . . Special-teams ace Colt Anderson was in the locker room after having surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament last week. It is typically a six- to nine-month recovery. He said it was his first major injury. . . . Reid said he did not regret signing Smith, who made $2.3 million for 11 catches and one touchdown. "He gave us some good depth this year," Reid said.
