Greyhounds are on the right track

Speed seems to be a common trait among the top Cape-Atlantic League teams, and the aptly nicknamed Greyhounds of Pleasantville fall into that category.

Pleasantville seems ready to build on last season's success and could end Wildwood Catholic's reign in the Cape-Atlantic National II race.

The Greyhounds return an impressive nucleus from a team that went 16-11 and posted quality wins over Holy Spirit, Willingboro, Riverside, Middle Township and Lenape.

Among the returnees: 6-foot Naim Lyons, 5-10 LeAndre Nixon, 5-8 Keith Gerald, 5-11 Nate Evans and 6-4 Barry Spiller. Clevins Exantus, a 6-2 transfer from Atlantic City, should help.

Wildwood Catholic has won or shared the last six Cape National II titles, but the Crusaders will miss the scoring provided by Anthony Raffa, who led South Jersey with 30.1 points per game last season and is playing at a Boston prep school. Wildwood Catholic will rely heavily on veterans Pat Kelly and Clark Hindelang, along with Wellie Gonzalez, Matt Mangold and Justin Miller. Freshman Brandon Pascucci, a 6-1 guard, will also contribute heavily.
