3 track stars off to Puerto Rico

Three local high school juniors were selected to the National Scholastic Sports Foundation team that will compete in Saturday's Caribbean Scholastic Track and Field Invitational.

Three local high school juniors were selected to the National Scholastic Sports Foundation team that will compete in Saturday's Caribbean Scholastic Track and Field Invitational.

Swenson's Shanae Bailey, Seneca's Michelle Brown, and Methacton's Carlton Lavong are among 28 athletes that will represent the NSSF in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

Bailey's best event is the 200 meters, Brown's the 400, and Lavong's the long jump.

The U.S. athletes will compete against teams from Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, Martinique, and Guadalupe.

The Foundation team is made up of 23 juniors, three sophomores, and two freshmen.
