Pa. Boys: Overton pours in 32 points to lead St. Joe's Prep to win

Miles Overton dropped in 32 points and boosted St. Joseph's Prep past visiting Germantown, 62-56, in a nonleague game Monday.

Overton, a 6-4 sophomore forward, converted 11 of 17 shots from the field and was 7 for 9 from the free throw line. He grabbed nine rebounds and scored 14 points in the final quarter when the Hawks (5-0) outscored the Bears (4-4), 22-18.

In other nonleague games:

Mike Sturdivant collected 15 of his 24 points in the opening quarter and led Masterman past visiting Mariana Bracetti, 60-54.

James Mobley and Pat Stringfield each scored 15 points for Upper Merion in a 62-55 win over host Upper Perkiomen.

Da'Quan Ballenger and Haneef Muhammad each scored 12 points in the second half for Swenson in a 58-49 win over host Kensington.

Evan Galloway came through with 15 points and helped Methacton get past host Lansdale Catholic, 50-36.

Brahieme Jackson and Ryan Leaks each scored 20 points to spark Bishop McDevitt to a 67-51 win over visiting MaST Charter.

Cristian Rojas scored half of his 16 points in the second quarter and lifted Fels to a 61-44 win over visiting Palumbo.

Shaquille Bowman struck for 20 points and helped Esperanza beat visiting Mastbaum, 68-47.

The Toros won their fourth game after winning just three contests last season.

Public. Samson Akano converted a one-and-one foul with 28 seconds left and iced Roxborough's 46-43 win over visiting Ben Franklin in a Division B game.

According to Indians coach Terrell Bennett, it was Roxborough's first win over the Electrons in at least 27 years.

Akano scored five points and teammate Dwayne Holland added 10 points for the Indians.

Jerrell Wright sank a pair of free throws with 6.7 seconds left and secured Dobbins' 56-53 win over host Franklin Learning Center.

Wright scored 26 points, grabbed 20 rebounds and blocked a pair of shots.

Maurice Watson contributed 18 points and 14 assists as Boys' Latin tripped visiting University City, 72-61.

Terrell Daye picked up nine of his 24 points in the third quarter as West Philadelphia handled host Bok, 64-47.

Central. Terrence Bridges scored 16 points as Upper Darby downed host Radnor, 57-32.

Bicentennial. Jose Figueroa scored 11 of his 20 points in the first half and propelled Plumstead Christian to a 53-43 win over visiting Delco Christian.

City of Palms Classic. In Fort Myers, Fla., Rakeem Christmas accounted for 17 points and 14 rebounds as Academy of the New Church routed St. Marks (Mass.), 65-41, in a semifinal game of the Signature Series bracket.

Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Brendan Kilpatrick and Steve Perpiglia each scored 15 points and boosted Malvern Prep past La Salle, 63-57, at Philadelphia University.
