Victorino heads to DL, not Philly

Red Sox sideline former Phillie with a strained hamstring.

SHANE VICTORINO'S Philly homecoming has been derailed. The Red Sox put the outfielder on the disabled list yesterday with a strained left hamstring.

Victorino had missed three games since he was injured Monday against the White Sox.

"I'm frustrated, but I think the overall understanding is it's probably better," Victorino told Boston.com. "I don't want to be that guy and play half a game and have something resurface and then somebody else has got to go and play for me. I'm just not that kind of player and that kind of stuff frustrates me. I never want to have to put somebody in that situation."

The Phillies go to Boston for two games Monday and Tuesday and host the Red Sox on Wednesday and Thursday in their only interleague meetings this season.
