Five things you need to know about the 76ers today:

1. Joel Embiid leads all NBA rookies with a player efficiency rating of 23.47.  The Washington Wizards’ Sheldon McClellan is a distant second at 16.79.

2. Today is the anniversary of Moses Malone's mind-blowing double-double against the Detroit Pistons. The former Sixers great had 51 points and 17 rebounds against the Pistons on Nov. 14, 1984.

3. Even though his tenure here was short, being inside the Toyota Center is kind of like a home away from for Robert Covington. The Sixers small forward, who played for the Rockets in 2013-14, was warmly welcomed by the arena's staff before this morning's shootaround here.

4. Jerryd Bayless is with the Delaware 87ers on a day-to-day basis. With the Sixers on the road and no practice tomorrow, he's with the team's D-League squad to get in some practice.

5. Several members of the Sixers squad received a history lesson on Sunday. They toured NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.
