THE EAGLES and Union are planning to announce a major soccer event that will return to Lincoln Financial Field this summer. What's unsure is if the contest will be part of the annual World Football Challenge set to return to the United States in July.

Debuting in 2009, the WFC is a tournament pitting some of the world's best teams against each other and MLS franchises. Last year, the Union hosted Real Madrid at the Linc in a WFC match.

On Tuesday, MLS, in conjunction with CAA Sports and Soccer United Marketing, announced that English Premier League club Chelsea will play MLS' Seattle Sounders on July 18 and that Liverpool and MLS' Toronto FC will clash in Toronto on July 21. Both games will be part of the WFC.

Chelsea also will play the MLS All-Stars on July 25 at PPL Park.

Also, MLS formally announced a one-game suspension for Union manager Peter Nowak after he was ejected from Saturday's win at Chivas USA.

Nowak does not intend to appeal the suspension. The league has yet to announce whether there will be additional penalties or fines.
