Ask Sir Charles

Don't turn the tables on your boss

Q: My boss is a total tool. At work, he hits on the ladies all the time and rarely misses an opportunity to make an inappropriate comment. Next week is our company holiday party. Would I be out of line if I give him a taste of his own medicine? Maybe chat up his wife?

- Plotting in Pottstown

A: Out of line? Dude, you'll wind up in the unemployment line.

Work parties are no place for acting stupid. You can't control your boss or anybody else, but you can act responsibly.

And don't even think of being anything less than cordial to his wife. Just because she's married to a tool doesn't mean you have to hammer her.

Have fun. Be civil. And in the future see what you can do about getting boss man to be more respectful to others.

Q: Do you have any New Year's resolutions?

- Resolved in South Philly

A: Yes, this year I resolved to not make any New Year's resolutions.

Seriously, I'm not a big believer in that stuff. There shouldn't be one day or one period of time when you resolve to be a better person. That should be on your mind 365 days a year, 366 days when it's a leap year, like 2012.
