Medtronic CEO retiring in April

MINNEAPOLIS - Medtronic says that chairman and CEO William A. Hawkins plans to retire in April and that the medical device maker is currently searching for a replacement.

MINNEAPOLIS - Medtronic says that chairman and CEO William A. Hawkins plans to retire in April and that the medical device maker is currently searching for a replacement.

Hawkins, 56, will retire at the end of the company's fiscal year on April 29. But, the company says, he will remain until a successor is named.

Hawkins was elected CEO in August of 2007 and chairman in 2008. He has been with Medtronic since 2002.
