Alums pictured touring St. Basil Academy before it closes after 90 years

An open house gives generations of women who went to Saint Basil Academy a chance to say goodbye before the private girls’ high school closes at the end of this academic year. Established in Jenkintown in 1931, it is a victim of dwindling enrollment in Catholic schools.

Jillian Fornito, Class of '00, takes a photo of her sisters and classmates as they join other alumna taking a final chance to walk through St. Basil Academy. Jumping for her are Emily Loeffer (Pale), '07 (from left) Abby Pale, '14; Kathleen Dayhoff (Pale), '03; Danielle Drigo, '03; and Molly Fornito, '03. The children are Kathleen's daughter, Quinn, 4; and Danielle's, Violet, 6.
