Philadelphia Orchestra pictured during first-ever Pride concert celebrating the LGBTQ+ community
The Philadelphia Orchestra kicks off Pride Month with a free Nézet-Séguin-conducted concert hosted by Martha Graham Cracker - “the Drag Queen King of Philadelphia” and works by LGBTQ+ composers and performers.

The concert featured out gay composers, out gay artists, and out gay conductors. Canadian violinist Blake Pouliot and the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus performed, and the orchestra played a piece by Philly composer Jennifer Higdon, along with Leonard Bernstein’s Overture to Candide, selections from Barber’s Suite from Souvenirs, and the Act I Waltz from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
