Pictures behind the scenes as the Macy’s Christmas Light Show goes up in the Wanamaker Building

High above the Eagle in the Grand Court of the Wanamaker Building, (now home to Macy’s) a dozen workers assemble a beloved Philadelphia tradition.

The recently renovated, but decorative gold leaf pipes (the Wanamaker Organ’s real components are spread elsewhere throughout the building) are behind a black scrim backdrop on the balcony overlooking the Eagle and the Grand Court at Macy's Center City after closing October 22, 2019. Workers set up the Christmas Light Show after hours over four nights in front of the scrim.
