Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, helped kick off festivities Wednesday, Apr. 30, 2025, leading up to next year’s Semiquincentennial.

Prince Edward rededicated the Bicentennial Bell in its new home, the Benjamin Rush Garden in Old City. It was presented to the people of the United States from the people of Great Britain by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 1976 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of American independence. The Prince also visited Constitution High School, on the first of his two days in Philadelphia.
